Cilok (Pentol/Cilot), Indonesia Children Tra ditional Snack

Indonesia has many kind of traditional food. Example like ketan, lumpia, bakso (meat ball) and so on. But there one kind of snack can we meet in every school in Indonesia. Especially in Java. The snack name is “Cilok”.

Cilok is favorite snack between Indonesia students. This snack created long time ago. It created when Japan still occupied Indonesia. There were some farmers lived in poor condition. There were no food they found. The only they had were some starches. They thought it can be cooked like rice. So they put some starches, give seasoning and mixed it with water. Then they cooked until the water became absorbed.

Now people keep this food and it become traditional snack or the most famous snack. People usually add some ketchup or soybeans to give more taste. Now cilok is modified by add some meat or serve with broth. So it looks like Bakso (meat ball) now. Cilok is close to Indonesia people because it doesn’t need much cost.
